This part was so valuable, a defensive pawn move to block a check provides a super nasty fork of Rook and Queen. Overcoming this situation using tactics to get the bigger gain piece wise, learning this helps in many other situations all the time.
I use this all the time, today I had a situation where someone attacked my knight with a bishop and I quickly moved a pawn to attack a rook. Note that I mention “quickly” this is a tactic itself to try getting the opponent to match my speed to slip up, but lots of times players get tunnel vision on a specific capture so they miss bigger threats.
